COLOR First specializes in Fine Colored Gemstones from source locations all over the world. The region we know best is East Africa, where we started working with and learning about Gemstones more than three decades ago.

We like to start with Gems from the rough stage, expertly sorting and grading them for color, size, shape and clarity, before faceting them into different cuts and qualities. Some of them are chosen to make matched pairs, layouts or suites when possible.

Our aim is to produce finished Gems that maximize the beauty present in the rough stone. Sometimes that means wasting a lot of material. However, the end result usually speaks for itself and makes this endeavor worthwhile.

There are several stages of quality control along this elaborate process from Mine to Market, and it takes experience to produce fine quality finished Gemstones.

COLOR First works with some very colorful Gem families – Zircons, Garnets, Tourmalines, Spinels, Sapphires and Beryls. We carry single stones, matched pairs, bracelet lines, layouts and suites in all these Gems, with sizes from 2mm to 50+cts each.
