Labradorite is a Feldspar mineral of the plagioclase series.

It is named after Labrador, Canada but mined in several locations worldwide. This type of Labradorite is also found in Finland and Madagascar and it displays ‘labradorescence’ which is a strong play of iridescent colors including blues, greens, yellows, oranges, etc.

Transparent yellow, red and green Labradorite is also mined in Oregon and marketed as ‘Oregon Sunstone’. This material sometimes has platy inclusions of copper that create ‘aventurescence’, a type of attractive shiller effect.

Yellow and golden Labradorite from Mexico is almost always transparent, and available in relatively large sizes.

We have many more shapes and sizes available in Labradorite – please contact us if you don’t find what you are looking for in our online inventory.
