Scapolite is a light to medium yellow gem primarily from East Africa. Occasionally it is available in purple colors.
Scapolite is an attractive and affordable alternative yellow gem, and is available in decent sizes.
Significant mining locations include Tanzania and Madagascar. Some of the material is near colorless and often displays interesting florescence.
